Chris Jack
Artist

Chris Jack is a media artist whose work presently consists of two distinct, but interwoven, strands: photographic series, and interactive (HTML) poetry. His work conveys a journey through shared space and overlapping histories, usually by way of exploring local landscapes, sometimes venturing further.

Recently Chris has become interested in questions of scale and time, insofar as the paradox of the slowness and vastness of geological and evolutionary time-scales bearing down upon a moment in history in which we, collectively, find ourselves seemingly facing ever accelerating environmental and societal changes. Perhaps this marks out the present as a unique point in not just human but also planetary time. Or has it always felt like this to the observer through history as they live with abundant change, while looking back to an unmoving past? Importantly, how do past analogues of present events speak to the here and now?

At Bon Volks, Chris is exploring printing techniques that traverse physical and digital processes, as a route to making tangible his research.
