Marie Doinne
Bookbinder

Marie is a bookbinder and book artist who runs Folio Atelier; a creative bookbinding studio. She collaborates with artists, designers, independent publishers and many more creative individuals to fabricate their bespoke books, limited editions, boxes and more.

Marie discovered bookbinding while studying for her MA in Fine Arts in Paris. Her enthusiasm for the craft developed during her four years managing the bindery of a major printing company in Central London. She was then awarded a Qest scholarship to further train with masters in the craft and recently won an award in the prestigious Designer Bookbinders annual competition. Alongside commissions she is also developing a practice focusing on exploring the various elements and techniques that bookbinding encompasses. She is interested in exploring different shapes, forms and structures and especially interested in developing structures using paper, card or any material that could be traditionally used for bookbinding in order to create objects that are not necessarily books as we know them.
